I am a list maker, so I always make a list of what I am going to pack, because I don’t want to forget something.  I am also an over packer, so I was a bit worried when I learned that my mom and aunts were driving a small car.  A small car equals a small trunk so I was limited on space and luggage size.  So I tried to limit my shoes and other items.  Since dinner was formal several evenings, I wanted a dress for each night.

Fit to be Teal

I tried to be clever with my title, but I think it may be a little too cheesey!  Anyway, I am loving teal and turquoise this summer.  I think it is the perfect color.  I bought this dress online at Macys for $19.99 plus I used a gift card so basically it was FREE!  I wore this dress on the way down to Orlando.  It was so comfortable.

Are you fit to be teal this summer?  There I go with the cheesey lines again.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Trip

Hogwarts Castle

On Tuesday, the hubs, his parents, and myself went to Adventure Island at Universal to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  As I mentioned here, I have been waiting to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter since it opened but had not had the opportunity to visit.

Although it was extremely hot (98 degrees in the shade), I had a wonderful time visiting the park.  I felt like I was part of the Harry Potter books and movies.  I rode the rides, ate at the Three Broomsticks, drank butter beer, and even purchased a wand.  Here are some of my favorite photos of the trip.

So what did I wear for my trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?  As I mentioned in my amusement park post, I would wear shorts, a tank, a crossbody purse, comfortable shoes, and lots of sunscreen.  So I pretty much wore that.

Red 1x1 Tank - Loft
Black Crossbody Bag - Target (not available online) - Similar Item
Tennis Shoes - Nike

I would have preferred cute shoes, but I don't have comfortable shoes for a day of walking!  So I just used my running shoes.

My trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was fabulous!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Today I am visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure in Universal.  So I will be a little MIA when it comes to my blog and twitter.

I have been wanting to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter since it opened last year, but just haven't been able to go.  But I am going TODAY!  I am so excited.  As I mentioned here, I am a huge Harry Potter fan.  I have read all the books and seen all the movies.  So I can't wait to see the park!  I plan on drinking butter beer and I have a feeling I will be buying myself a wand from Ollivanders Wand Shop (yes, I am a nerd).

I hope my wonderful readeres have a great day and I'll be back to commenting and tweeting fully on Wednesday!

On Sundays I Smile – Week in Review

This Sunday I am smiling because I have been spending time in St. Louis and on Table Rock Lake.  My husband grew up in St. Louis and his parents own a lake house.  Every year for the 4th of July his family has people down to their lake house to celebrate the 4th of July by lounging on the lake, cooking out, and fireworks.

The last two years we have not ben able to attend, but this year we were able to come in for the occasion.  It has been so nice spending time on the lake relaxing.  Sophie has totally enjoyed herself by jumping off the dock into the water.  It has been an amazing week.

I promise to share my vacation photos when I return home.

What has made you smile this week?

Travel Tips

Since I am on vacation, I decided to share some of my travel tips.  I have always been an over packer.  I always want to make sure that I have enough clothes and extra clothes for those “just in case” moments.  So I generally check luggage.  I know that I am spending money by checking a bag, but I have to have these items and I want enough room just in case I find something to purchase.

However, this time I decided to not check a luggage and had to fit 9 days of clothes in my carry on.  I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do it, but I survived!

So here are my tips for packing.

1.  Make a list of the items you need to bring.  I always make a list so that I can check it off and make sure I have everything I need.

2.  Pick out your outfits in advance.  If you are packing and know how many days you are going to be somewhere try to pick out your outfits.  This way you have the right about of items and won’t over pack.

3.  Put your heavier items on the bottom.  If you packing a cardigan or a pair of jeans place them flat on the bottom of the luggage this will help take up less space.

4.  Put your liquid items in a ziplock bag.  My luggage has a plastic zipper pouch, but I still put my liquid items in a ziplock bag.  One time I didn’t put my liquid products in a ziplock bag and when I got home I had nail polish remover all over my clothes.  It came out but was a stinky process and the luggage never was the same.  So when in doubt place it in a ziplock bag.

5.  If you are bringing another handbag or clutch for the occasion put your jewelry in the bag.  By placing items in the bag, your bag will hold its shape and you are taking up less space.

I love traveling.  I wish I could travel all the time, but I can’t.  I am enjoying vacation and hope all of you are having a great week!
