Purple Flowers

Happy 4th of July!  I hope each of you have a wonderful day!  I had planned on doing an outfit that was red, white, and blue but I am still working on my blogging schedule with work.  So I did not get around to taking photos in my red, white, and blue look!  So you are left with a look that I wore to work last week.

Floral Top and Black Capris

I still haven’t fully embraced the floral trend.  Yes, I own a few tops and a few dresses but I am still not sure I can wear floral pants.  So I am trying the trend with items I know, like this floral top.  I have owned this Loft top for a really long time, but it has held up wonderfully after a lot of wear.  For the look, I paired the floral top with my black capris.  I know I wore black capris on the blog this week but these are different I promise!

Floral Pleated Skirt and Red Top

I love a great pleated skirt and this one is no exception.  I have owned this skirt since my Junior year of college and still love it.  The best part about this skirt if fits me regardless of my size.  If I am heavier it still fits and if I am skinny it still sits on my hips.  This is the perfect skirt.  For the black and white floral skirt, I typically pair it with a black top and red accessories.  This time around, I wanted to wear a red v-neck top.

Savings Saturday – Nicholas Kirkwood Floral Printed Platform Pumps

Savings Saturday - Floral Pumps

As I have mentioned before floral is a huge trend for spring.  I am still not sure I can wear floral pants, but a pair of floral print shoes would definitely do the trend in a small way.

I love the lighter print floral Nicholas Kirkwood Floral Platform but they are $698.  So I will settle for the Charlotte Russe pair for only $37!

Will you wear floral this spring?

Celebrity Sunday – Olivia Palermo

Printed pants are HUGE right now.  I have seen them on celebrities and fashion bloggers like Wardrobe Oxygen or The Stylish Housewife.  I am not sure I can pull of this trend, but what is not to love about Olivia Palermo’s look. Palermo paired her printed pants with a solid top and blazer, but made a bold move by mixing a print on her heels.

Trend Tuesday – Florals

The floral print is back this season.  According to Vogue, “spring has sprung with a new posy of pretty floral prints.”  I love floral prints and I have for years!  When I look in my closet I see several different floral items.  I have several floral dresses and skirts, a few floral tops and even sandals with a flower on them.

With the floral trend, you can go with as much or as little print as you want.  You can wear floral from head to toe with a floral pants suit or mix floral prints.  I personally cannot wear mixed prints.  I have too much of an OCD personality to be able to mix prints.  Some day I will try to step out of my comfort zone and pull mixing prints off.  But for now I will stick with floral maxi dresses or a floral skirt with solid top.

Here are a few of my favorite floral pieces from my wardrobe collection.

Friday my husband and I made our way from Jacksonville, Florida to Durham, North Carolina for my brother’s graduation.  I generally do not wear dress clothes when I am going to be in a car for 6-7 hours, but we had a dinner reservation at 6:15 and I wasn’t sure if we would have time to change at the hotel.  Sure enough we didn’t have time and the outfit worked perfectly for dinner.  I selected the shirt and pants because I knew they wouldn’t really get wrinkled in the car and were still comfortable enough for the drive.  On our drive we drove passed South of the Border in South Carolina.  Let me just say this place looks amazing, but we couldn’t stop.  As you are driving through South Carolina you will see billboard after billboard promoting South of the Border.  My favorite is “You Never Sausage A Place.  You’re Always a Weiner at Pedros.  South of the Border.”  I wasn’t sure what I expected when we finally arrived at South of the Border.  But then I saw a sombrero water tower.  We didn’t stop, but it is definitely an interesting place.

We arrived a little early to the Angus Barn.  We had drinks at the Wild Turkey Lounge while waiting for my family to arrive.  The Angus Barn was amazing.  The restaurant was a huge barn with old country decor.  There was a glass wall filled with different guns, quilts were on the walls, and the Wild Turkey Lounge had turkeys everywhere.  The restrooms even had a boy and girl turkey on the door.  I loved that the girl turkey had heels and a handbag.

The food was delicious!  I started with French onion soup, then had the bacon wrapped filet mignon and stuffed potatoes.  Wow!  If you are ever in the Durham area I recommend trying out the Angus Barn.
