Bloggers Do It Better: Sequins

When the latest Bloggers Do It Better challenge was issued, I was excited because I missed out on the last one.  But then I saw it was sequins and I started to get worried.  I only own a sequin clutch and the sequin top I wore on the cruise.  The only way I could think about wearing the silver sequin top was with a blazer over it.  Luckily, the beautiful Kimberly from Penny Pincher Fashion used her sequin top as a vest and I had my inspiration.  I wasn’t sure I liked this look when I visualized it.  But then when I put it on, I really loved it.  It had a preppy look but with sequins, perfect!

Animal Instincts

Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly issued the next Bloggers Do It Better Challenge - Animal Instincts. The blogger challenge is simple wear animal print and have fun mixing prints.

I love anything animal print right now whether it is tops, skirts, dresses, shoes, or handbags.  I love animal print!  For my look, I selected a top I purchased at T.J. Maxx for $10!  I also added a different leopard print by adding my trusty leopard print pumps.

Bloggers Do It Better: Arm Party

The newest Bloggers Do It Better challenge from Pretty Shiny Sparkly is Arm Party.  So what is an arm party?  It is exactly how it sounds a party of mixing bracelets, watches, and wraps.  Pretty much whatever you want to put on your arm is an Arm Party.  I have to admit I am just getting into creating parties for my arms.  I still am not comfortable mixing metals, but I am hoping to do that eventually.  Here are some of my arm party shots:

Bloggers Do It Better: Maxi

It is the time for another Bloggers Do It Better challenge from Pretty Shiny Sparkly.  Challenge number five is the Maxi!  I love a good maxi dress and have added more to my closet this summer, but I don't own a Maxi skirt which was the one requirement of the challenge.  A maxi skirt can have ruffles or pleats, tiers or slits.  I decided I needed a maxi skirt in my life so I headed to Forever 21 for a cheap maxi skirt to fit the challenge and to fit into my wardrobe.  Unfortunately, I hated every maxi skirt I tried on.  The skirts made my hips look wide and I just wasn't feeling them.  Then I stumbled upon the Vibrant Maxi Dress.  I loved the print and the dress.  I knew I had to have it but wanted to make it work for the Bloggers Do It Better challenge.  So What did I do?  I made the dress into a skirt and paired it with a black tank for the summer.  I think I actually like the dress better as a skirt!

Bloggers Do It Better: Neon + Neutral

Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly issued another assignment for Bloggers Do It Better this time Neon + Neutral.  I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to do this assignment since I don’t have a lot of Neon clothes in my closet, but sure enough I made it work.

This assignment makes me think of color blocking, but instead of adding another color to your outfit, you add a touch of neutral.  It works perfectly well and I was really excited about my outfit.

Bloggers Do It Better: Prep School

When I saw the Bloggers Do It Better challenge from Pretty Shiny Sparkly I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to do it.  The challenge:  Bloggers Do It Better:  Prep School.  I have never been a preppy girl.  I never went through the pop collar look.  But I decided to try the challenge and see what I had in my closet to make it work.

After going through my closet, I realized one thing I need a button up shirt.  Since I have lost weight I do not have a shirt that would work.  My remedy my husband’s white polo.  The polo was a little large, but I tucked it in and put a black cardigan over it.  I selected the tie because it used to belong to my grandfather.  Grandpa Sayre would be so happy that I was wearing his tie.  So here is my Prep School Look:

Bloggers Do it Better: White Out

I came across the next Bloggers Do It Better assignment through Ashley from Image Envy.  The assignment was White Out.  When I read the assignment, I was worried because I looked in my closet and realized I don’t have anything white!  But then I remembered my white pleated skirt from Banana Republic that I bought a few years back.  I haven’t worn the skirt in ages because I had gained a lot of weight since I have lost 43 pounds the skirt fits and is actually a little big.  So I was happy that I had a white item.  I had planned on taking the pictures for my blog and the challenge yesterday, but I ended up with a dreaded stomach virus and spent yesterday in bed.  Today, I knew I had to do the challenge.  I am still not feeling a 100% but I got myself out of bed and took my pictures.

So here is my white outfit:

Tan Skinny BeltForever 21
Tan Peep Toe Heels - Liz Claiborne (no longer available)
Gold Bangle Bracelet – World Market (no longer available)
Gold Earrings – Target (no longer available)

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this challenge, because I am the girl who likes grey and black and some bright colors, but I have never liked white.  I think I have stayed away from white because I have always been pale.  My husband and I joke that we are the palest couple in Florida.  But I have to say I loved my outfit!  I have realized I can pull off white and definitely plan to in the future.  Thank you Pretty Shiny Sparkly for challenging me outside my comfort zone.  Check out the other Bloggers doing White Out here.
