Tip Tuesday - Fashion Tips for Triangle or Pear Shaped Body Types

Everyone woman has a certain type of body shape whether it is triangle, inverted triangle, rectangular, apple-shaped, or hourglass. Based on your body type you can dress to look your best.

If you are a Triangle or Pear Shape Body your hips are larger than your shoulders. Basically, your shoulders are narrower than your hips, you have a defined waist, and your thighs are typically full. Celebrities that are Triangle or Pear Shaped are Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, or Jennifer Lopez.

If you are Triangle or Pear Shaped you want to draw attention to your upper body and keep the eyes away from your thighs and hips. You can wear accessories and designs to draw attention to your upper body.  Examples of this would be wearing larger necklaces. I love wearing large beaded necklaces. You can also wear short sleeves (when it is not winter) to make your shoulders look a little broader.

To de-emphasize your hips since they are on the larger sides, wear garments to emphasize your waist, skirts and dresses that are straight or slightly flared. I’d go with some sort of a-line skirt or dress. When wearing pants wear low-rise pants that are boot cut or straight leg.

If you are a Triangle or Pear Shaped don’t wear baggy garments, garments that add bulk to your hips, or tapered pants.

Above are some examples of outfits for Triangle or Pear Shaped body types.  The first shows a way to de-emphasize your hips.  The grey skirt is flared and takes away from the hips while the top is form fitting and emphasizes the waist.

The second outfit is straight leg jeans that are low-rise and has an embellished top to show off the top of your body.

Hope this addition of Tip Tuesday is helpful!  Contact me if you have any questions regarding your pear shaped body.
